J-VAC® vaccine is a broad-spectrum bacterin-toxoid that protects against coliform mastitis caused by Escherichia coli and the effects of endotoxemia caused by E. coli and Salmonella Typhimurium.


It is approved for a whole-herd protocol and can be used for lactating cows, heifers or dry cows.

  • Labeled for flexible administration, with intramuscular and subcutaneous injection-route options. 
     

 

Dosage & Administration

Administration 

  • For vaccination against coliform mastitis, inject one 2 mL dose intramuscularly or subcutaneously at seven months of gestation or at dry-off. Revaccinate one to three weeks before calving. Approved for whole-herd use. 

 

Timing 

  • For vaccination against the effects of endotoxemia, whole-herd vaccination may be done at any time. Vaccinate with one 2 mL dose followed by a second 2 mL dose two to four weeks later.

Safety

Precautions

  • Store away from heat or direct sunlight at 35-46ºF (2-8ºC).
  • Do not freeze.
  • Do not mix with other products.
  • Use entire contents when first opened.
  • Do not use chemicals to sterilize syringes or needles.
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slighter.
  • In rare instances, administration of vaccines may cause lethargy, fever, and inflammatory or hypersensitivity types of reactions.
  • Treatment may include antihistamines, anti-inflammatories, and/or epinephrine.
  • In case of human exposure, contact a physician.
