Parasite control

Sustainable parasite control starts with four key pillars

Building a healthier, more productive herd takes more than one round of deworming. These four principles help producers protect performance today and preserve treatment effectiveness for tomorrow. Following the four pillars of sustainable deworming supports stronger weight gains and productivity, reduced parasite resistance and long-term treatment effectiveness.

1. Diagnostics

Know what you’re treating. Routine fecal testing and parasite monitoring identify which parasites are present — and helps support your deworming program is performing as expected.

2. Combination treatment target

Parasites from multiple angles. Using dewormers from different drug classes (like a white dewormer and an endectocide) can reduce survivors and slow resistance development.

3. Refugia

Leave a few untreated — to protect the many. Maintaining a small population of untreated animals helps keep a “refuge” of susceptible parasites, diluting potential resistant genes in the herd and pasture.

4. Management

Strengthen herd health from the ground up. Good nutrition, pasture rotation and low-stress handling all help reduce parasite exposure and boost immunity for long-term success.
